Nothing wrong with MDF. The company that I do work for, manufacture it from 3mm and up. Even standing right next to the press there is no irritation to the eyes and nose. It is very stable, hardly warps, excellent to rout and shape. Why use solid wood if you are going to paint it? Mate of mine redid...
