May be you could scarf a new section on the bottom either in one or two pieces. It obviously depends on your skill and the tools that you have.

Re: This style of spoke shave:
How easy is it to straighten a wobbly plank of wood with a spoke shave and no vice? Doable, right? I would think just about impossible. The ones that you show are from China which is fine for some things but IMHO not for anything which cuts. In general the steel is of very poor quality. Spoke shaves...

I have a Scheppach Tiger 2500 Wet Stone Sharpener and the water stone requires flattening. I have bought a Tormek SP650 stone grader. I have tried it on the course side with the wet stone dry and it is clogging up. Should the stone be wet? How do I now clean the stone grader?

Re: Where to purchase material for box making?
A local joinery works would probably run up some wood for you. I had to make some presentation boxes for Jewelled Steering Wheels a while ago. They were 60mm deep and 350mm square. I made the sides of beech and the top and bottom of mahogany faced ply recessed into the sides. That gave a nice contra...

Re: Plywood kitchen
When you say that you want to build a 'Birch Ply' kitchen do you mean to make the carcasses and doors - draw fronts from birch ply? Birch ply is super expensive and not all birch ply's are of the same quality. A couple of things worth doing is make the work surface wider than normal. I tend to make ...

Impregnated Timber
I am going to put up some fencing during lock down! All the timber that I will be using is 'impregnated', which I assume will make it water resistant. Re: Making tongued and grooved joints
A table saw is the last piece of machinery that I'd think of using in the workshop to make tongue and grooved boards. How much have you got to make? If only a bit and you have the time do it by hand, a Stanley No 50 Plough plane (or something similar) would do the job. Alternatively you can buy a s...

The workshop strip lights have been up for some five years. When I bought them I also purchased a box of extra florescent tubes so I decided to replace the tubes with new ones. Veritas Honing Guide Mk.11
I recently bought a Veritas Honing Guide Mk.11. I tried it out with quite good results, then I went onto Youtube and watched a video on how to use it properly!!! After watching the video I saw that I wasn't using it in the correct way.
Wow what a result - chisels sharp or what.
