Little tip to stop paint damage in the future is got some .75 lexan polycarbonate between the units and stone when the slip it in it cant touch the paint

I have made a few of these, i use a vacum press and 2mm mdf and i use cascamite for the glue, u can only do 3 layers at a time as the vacum wont pull down any more at first you get a fair bit of spring back but as you put on more layers this stops

Circular island

Hi Guys,

Taken on a project that contains a circular island 1000mm diameter with 2 doors, have made a few curved cabinets in the past and just wondered if theres any specila techniques which work and what problems may arise. Any guidence would be helpful.

Thanks anyway guys but done it now, made a skeleton up then put on a lyer of flexi mdf then cut up the remaining neatmatch just taking the tgvb profile out, then 90mm wide strips of flexi mdf then just put it all together. simples

Cheers Mark, The customer ordered 10 chairs which did fit round it just, the table was 5ft round ext to 6 x 5ft but it could easily have had a larger leaf or two, the base would have taken a much larger table but the customer was limited on space. Right heres some WIP piccies, sorry didnt do that many. main column as you can see was made up in a box not solid. measured 305mm square. The main column and feet were all cut out on the bandsaw.

Spot on that Brandon, that's how I do mine with the vacuum press. My mate does the templates for me on his cnc, that's where a lot of the time is if you have to make the templates by hand. Hi :D Well I got the job will be starting in a few weeks,time will tell if I got my price right.I have costed the materials and labour time and there is still plenty of meat on the bone.With regards to fitting them they are going in a new extension so will be quite quick and easy to install. 1000 each sounds way to low theres's a joinery guy not far from me and he does a 100 x 1400 sash glazed in soft wood, supply only for £950. think the 35k fella was closer to the mark

cheers guys . Nice! And curved drawer fronts as well. How did you go about the curve? Steam bending? Laminated strips + bendy ply/mdf? cut out of the solid for the drawer fronts? the draw fronts were solid oak using 2.5mm constructional veneer. As above .. very nice !
