Re: *SOLD* Robland Startrite k260 Combi for sale

Thanks Kelvin, picked it up Monday night. Was a bit of a struggle to get it out, it all came down to winding the chuck in as far as it would go on the morticer and then it just made it through the door. I need to commission it here now though and might get a new set of planer blades but reckon withi...

Re: startrite k260 parts wanted

Hiya,
I'm looking to get a Robland K260 this weekend which is the same (I think) as yours. Could you please tell me if there is a plate on yours with the gross weight as I need to know if I will need a tail lift van to get it in or whether I can wheel it up some planks.
Thanks very much,
Mike

Re: Hollow form done today on my new lathe ;o))))

Thanks guys, no I bought a Draper in the spring and cut my teeth on that before investing in the Myford. I have to say the Draper WTL95 was a good lathe and I never really got held back by it but the Myford came along at a great price ( still pinching myself!) so I snapped it up as an early 40th / C...

I have to say a massive thank you to George from GT...

Re: Post your projects here

I just used a couple of coats of chestnut shellac sealer for the form topped off with microcystaline wax then the chestnut friction polish for the finial.

Re: Welcome! Say Hello

Hi John, do you go to the turning club in Croesyceiliog on Thursdays by any chance?
Jaco, no I left when I was two so can't even remember it. Went back to SA a few years ago to visit family.

Re: Welcome! Say Hello

Thanks Jaco,
what a coincidence, I was born in SA, in Durban.
Just managed to get myself a pile of ash, oak and hawthorn logs from a landscaping co near me who have just cut them down. I know the guy and have secured an endless supply of green wood by the looks.
Now what shall I make first? Hmmmm

Re: Welcome! Say Hello

Evening all! Just joined up after getting back into wood during my midlife crisis (could've been a lot worse I suppose!) Did 10 years as a wood machinist then took a complete change of career but bought myself a lathe recently and had a go at knocking out a few bits and pieces. I'm based in Cwmbran,...
