That looks like a Cooksley planer thicknesser that has been cannibalised to just a thicknesser by
removing the tables, if you have the tables you maybe able to restorei it, if not you only have a
thicknesser.

M, I haven’t used Tutbocad for years, the Furnituremaker looks interesting. l went over to Sketchup around ver5 and stopped my Pro version in January with that l used Cabmaker32 + Cutmaster, it’s a pretty good add on to design parametric cabinets with the most common cabinet fitting, it then nests t...

Whatever finish you use l would recommend not using anything water based. My choice for filling pin hole would be using hard wax sticks after you apply the finish, l often mix colours to get a better colour match.

Re: Router cutter for CNC work in melomine

That is a good price for a CMT cutter. For speed and consistency limit switches is the quickest way to find home, l use that method or a 3 axis zero plate that is placed on the corner of your material or inside fixed stops, l used the second method when l use a base jig for cutting small components....

No problem Mark, I use Rennie Tool Co and Wealdon Tools they both have a great selection of quality tooling at a fair price.

The cutter l use for your situation would be a SOLID CARBIDE 2 FLUTE UP DOWN COMPRESSION ROUTER BIT 8mm x 32mm, they also come in other length options

One question I have is how do you fix a continuous handrail to the spindles ? Pete, I have made a few of these, mostly 2 step, the 3 stepper is quite dangerous as the top step is immediately above the foot below it which can make it unstable, have a look at the proportion of a normal set of kitchen steps.

As far as construction methods l agree with Mark
