Sapele pricing

Postby thatsnotafestool » Thu Mar 21, 2019 8:54 am

Curious to know how pricing varies across the country.

Up here 3 piece off 5" x 2" x 4.5m cost me £107 + VAT. Works out at about £1250 per cu m

I'm on the Kent/Sussex Border and I'm paying around £990 Cube from Lathams, JW Timber at Marden are charging around £1189 cube.. I use to deal with Y Goldbergs a lot but when they were taken over there prices sky rocketed and are a complete joke.. Brooks Bros which is a big company are also higher than a small company like JW Timber who are small but very good service and prices are ok.

All plus vat of coarse.

Anyone got into the docks yet ? I have a mate that used to work at a joinery shop as an apprentice and they always went to the docks for timber .

Last time I bought from Lathams in Gateshead I paid 1050 plus vat per cube a few months ago. That was prob for buying 500 quid worth and I'm not a regular customer.

That's interesting. Looking back through my emails Latham's are who a local joinery company recommended for hardwood. I think that Andersen's in Carlisle, while brilliant for unsorted, are not that competitive for hardwoods. Delivery might be an issue though especially if their lorry is large.

I recently bought some sapele from Whitmores timber for £25 per cu ft plus vat, around £900 I think in new money.
