Corian Glue for fixing together of-cuts ?

Post by Meccarroll » Wed Jan 08, 2020 3:25 pm

I was given some offcuts of Corian left over from a job I have been working on. They were cut out of worktops where sinks were to fit. I was not fitting the Corian myself and don't have access to any supplies.
If I could glue them together the offcuts would make a nice worktop in our bathroom, does anyone know where I could obtain Corian adhesive from? Light Grey.

Many thank's

Hi Mark
CDUK in Leeds are the UK Corian distributors.
Any questions drop me a line. I did my fabrication course years ago.

A related question if I may please.
Is there any brand of these solid surface products that are able to be purchased by joe public without needing to be an approved installer.
I would like to use it in my bathroom refurb as a keen diy-er.
Thanks Bob

I don't think so Bob. It is to do with the guarantee with the finished product. Hehe fabrication has to be done by an approved trained fabricator.

There are some chipboard core worktops with a thin layer of solid surface available. They were pretty expensive and I have never used them.

Hi Bob,

Check out Durasein from IDS (International Decorative Surfaces)

Apollo Slabtech can easily be purchased online

Avonite sold by Lathams to name one place

Samsung Staron from Blackheath Products but I have bought from other suppliers.

These are all forms of solid surface material that you can purchase without being a fabricator.

I worked on a boatbuilding yard years ago and we used Corian on some of the fit-outs (not myself). I remember we had an initial problem with Corian due to none of the team being trained with the stuff. As an alternative Avonite came into play, temporarily, which had a much nicer look to it than Corian, more like natural stone but it was more prone to scratches than Corian so Corian won the day.
