Can anyone tell me what wood this is?

Hi all,
New to the forum and hoped i could get the benefit of someones knowledge.
Trying to identify the wood type of this antique writing slope.

Any guesses too would be appreciated.

Hi Tom and welcome to the forum.

I initially thought it looked like mahogany (but then realised that that was because I'd been staring at mahogany all day). I think it might be stained oak.

Probably Brazilian, but definitely Mahogany. Looks Georgian to me. I have one just like it that i bought to restore about 15 years ago..

Yup, Mahogany. Defo not oak.
