Is 25mm too thick for concealed hinges?

Postby Oakfield » Mon Oct 09, 2017 8:56 pm

I am building a kitchen at the moment.
I normally finish my doors and face frame at 22mm thick and use normal Blum hinges for inset doors.
On this particular job I have finished the doors and face frame at 25mm and I'm just wondering if I have made a mistake!
I know you can get Blum hinges for inset doors up to 32mm thick but didn't know if they have to have extra large gaps or any other issues I may not of thought about.
I will also have 2 blind corners, so ideally need hinges for thick doors that will work in that situation.
I have designed the fridge unit so the door can be hung on overlay hinges.
I will also need a couple of doors to be top hung.

Does anyone thick I will have problems finding hinges to fit thick doors in the situations?

Thanks,
Mark.

Hi Mark,

Some of the Grass Tiomos will work for thicker doors

I find they work well.

Not sure about the blind corner ones but i'm sure with some jiggling with plate heights and positions they will work.

+ 1 for Grass from hafele, used them a few times on thicker doors.
Theirs plenty that will do up to 28 often just the backplate changes.

I've also used the tiomos hinges on thicker doors, and they are now my standard concealed hinge.
