Open workshop April 27th

Postby jonnyd » Mon Apr 01, 2013 7:18 pm

I'm having a bit of an open workshop day on the 27th of April anyone who wants to come along is welcome. Location is near Boston in Lincolnshire. There's no set itinerary but I was thinking of setting up some veneering demos edging and seeming veneers with handplanes and flat and curved press work. Anyone want to do some trad veneer hammer work? There should be the usual banter, hand tools power tools etc and beer and curry afterwards.

Cheers

Jon

Are you sure? Or are you just saying that?

Can't imagine for a second you will actually go!

Why not, I went to Matty's bash and Lynx's bash, doug and Ed have been to my place. Had a small tour for some off the otherside (6 or 7 people) about a month ago.
I like these things, probably won't do the beer.....

I didn't come to your bash, my wifes from that area and it has a general airy smell of shite so I gave it a miss..... I did hear it was the biggest and best ever.

The pool table is no more but I kept the slate bed. The fruit machine is still here after finding out you need a license to sell it on ebay :D

The postcode for the workshop is PE20 3SB and the location is Punchbowl lane brothertoft boston. I am trying to work out how to post a google map links. If you paste the postcode into google maps you should get the location.

Good idea about sketchup nick I could do with a bit of help.

Would be good to see you Alex

Many thanks to Jon and his dad for organising a great do, well worth traversing the breadth of the country to attend. Just sorry we had to head back and missed Nick's Sketchup demo. Nice to meet everyone and hope you had a great curry night.

It was a good day. Thanks indeed to Jon and Dad.

You can see my photos here: http://s135.photobucket.com/user/NickWe ... ash%202013

At some point during the day I said to someone that I was going to buy something as soon as I got home. Can anyone remember me saying that, and what it was I was going to buy?
Hint: No, it wasn't Bobbys saw.

You did mention that you could do with some better vacuuum press bags. Then there was the edgebanding glue from Ostemanns, a Silent block planer thicknesser, oh and a new spindle moulder :D .

Those photos need a warning that they contain graphic scenes of a tool after it has been mercilessly abused.

Many thanks to Jon and his Dad for a really enjoyable day. It was great meeting up with everyone and well worth the long drive.

Thanks Jon and Dad and great to meet old friends and some new faces.

There is some really top class work done in Chez Ditchburn and very generous of them to share with us all. Nick's SU tutorial was a great introduction to the black art and a fascinating insight into the high end possibilities.

I think I was the only one to actually draw blood during the day and is the LN mitre plane had been bevel up instead of down I would have had a chatter free mitre on my finger end!

The curry was great and sorry we missed the late night session.
Cheers

Brian
