I need to get a finish close to this....
It's on ash i believe and has quite a lot of sun damage so not worried about mimicking that. I was thinking a fiddes stain and waxoil on top?
Any advise welcome. Cheers!

Re: Dark stain
I've got some spirit stain called Tudor Oak which looks pretty similar. Concentrated van dyke crystals might work but tends to be more brown than black
Taking pale ash down so dark with a stain could well give quite a streaky finish due to differential penetration into the grain.

Re: Dark stain
If you want black black.....the restoration guys use Chinese black, its a calligraphy ink.
From looking at your photo it looks black brown.....Ive seen venge stains that look simular.....
Or use Chinese black with with a brown tint.
