A few pics of a kitchen we have just completed. Pretty much made by JH under my expert guidance to a really high standard

Main view builder has co cked up the extractor so this bit needs replastering



Oak worktops with undermount sink with granite on the island



Big alcove cupboard about 2.6m high



Drawers on dynapro 60kg olive ash to compliment the oak and we also had loads of it in stock



Some of the details of hinges door profile and handles





The island is painted in downpipe by farrow and ball and hand painted using mylands colours of London dead flat paint.



To the left is a pull out bin and the right is the built in dishwasher there is a microwave going above the drawer

2 questions - is the skirting profile a standard spindle profile, and where did you get the hinges from?

Very nice.
We use that profile on the doors quite a bit with a flat panel, like you I think using a 9mm rebated panel in the doors is far superior to a 6mm panel
Amazing how popular the 2 tone kitchens are and mixing knobs and handles.
Is the granite Kashmir white?

Love the ash drawers, they really make it stand out, top work. Good colours too, thankfully the granite isn't the one that looks like a can of pedigree chum!

Skirting profile is this one from whitehill number 1250 http://www.whitehill-tools.com/catalogu ... =1&c2id=49" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; the the round bit at the top were grimsdaled on the disc sander and grinder to get rid of the round and create a 1.5mm step worked really well

Thanks for the comments think the worktop is a variant of Kashmir White can't remember the exact name but it is from India . Window locks nothing to do with me although I do remember a conversation with the builder as to where the missing part was

Bob , what is it you like about 9mm to 6mm is it just that the door sounds a bit more solid or something ??

design .. I have a question though....
I don't do kitchens ... but I do remember somewhere learning, that you need somewhere for you toes whilst working at the worktop, otherwise you have to lean forwards and get back ache.
There doesn't seem to be much overhang on the top, and no toe space ?


EDIT: btw, the question is just for my knowledge, not a crit about anyones design

I don't do kitchens ... but I do remember somewhere learning, that you need somewhere for you toes whilst working at the worktop, otherwise you have to lean forwards and get back ache.
There doesn't seem to be much overhang on the top, and no toe space ?

To be honest we were working to architect plans and did what was on the plans. I haven't had any complaints from anyone we have done the plinth like that for though. Food for thought though.

I like everything a lot, very fine work. Are you going to fit a splash-back behind the hob, or have you fitted a clear glass one?

I don't think the clients have decided yet what's happening yet . The job is a 300 mile round trip away so I won't be going to fit it anyway

I know this is old, but what spindle cutters do you use to make the doors (if you use spindle ??) I am trying to make some cabinet doors and don't like any of the cutters I have and I don't have any that are for a bigger panel than 6mm ..... but these look nice.

What thickness doors are you making ? also use 9mm mdf and rebate the back of the panel that's what they have done

By the way , that big Wadkin planer I had and didn't know what to do with- Ive taken it to bits and started refurbishing it so hopefully it will be looking the nuts soon.
