Now my doctor keeps banging on about getting out and get a hobby that doesn't include sitting down all the time so I decided to get the plans out and build me a boat.
I didn't like the plans much after I bought them as the boat doesn't have any keels and rests on its bottom if beached. I also wanted a long keel about 15ft made of ?
That's my opening question.
If your going to have a long keel what type of wood would you use. Something dense enough to stand constantly submerged in salt water and my bum sat on top of it. Not that its big, it was once but now I'm in a pair of jeans with a 36in waist.
I'm sure there must be someone here with the knowledge of building a wooden boat and having to choose what holds it together at the bottom. (That and a couple of other bits and pieces).

Thanks a lot.
Michael.
