Welcome to the forum. If the two saws you posted are really your only options, then I too would go for the Holzmann which looks very similar to a variety of machines available in the UK from the likes of Axminster or Charnwood. It will be solidly built and reasonably accurate.

I fitted a load of yellow balau decking a while back and it was really heavy, so I imagine it will last a while. fitted using spax stainless decking screws.

Thanks Mark. I've got a trend d/t jig and I think I've also got the finger joint template. I was rather hoping that this would be something I could sub out to someone with a cnc machine however this might not be that straightforward.

The customer wants 40, so I'm not keen doing all the components by hand and I can't think of a better way of doing the corners in 6mm thick material.

How feasible is it to do box joints on a cnc? Something like these in 6mm or 7.5mm veneered ply?

There may also be some rebates.

Welcome to the forum. If it's going to be painted then I would use 18mm mdf - getting good quality ply is getting increasingly difficult. As to the design if you can get your mortices and tenons tight then glue and maybe a few pocket screws or spax mdf screws should suffice - angle brackets look naff.

Is Oak really going to be that much more expensive over Ash? You will presumably use veneered panels which are more or less the same whatever timber you choose, and I would be dead scared that the customer wouldn't be happy with a stained door when you are also making oak doors at the same time.

I think Axminster are primarily a hobbyist/ DIY retailer and although they sell a few 'trade' machines that isn't really their forte. You aren't the first to experience their poor customer service and doubtless you won't be the last.

The problem with most stains, particularly on bigger areas is unless you are good you risk getting tide marks. I would try something like osmo wood wax which is available in a number of tints and is both easy to apply and hard wearing.

Even easier would be screws straight down through the top into the legs. The only problem with this is that if the ply isn't good quality then it will probably delaminate as the screw goes down between the plys.
