Wooden Seats for garden area

Post by bazza2000 » Fri Apr 23, 2021 7:39 pm

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase some wood to make seats for use in my garden.

I've seen this picture on pinterest which is the exact type of wood that I like, but I've no idea what sort of wood it or, or where to source it.

Can anyone in the forum help please? If anyone could give me a rough idea of price and if its hardy enough to last a few years outside?

Thanks,

I can't tell from the photo what material that is but I would recommend that you consider the use of Iroko do your seating. It will last for at least thirty years in outside use, it's colour varies from light yellow to brown and is affected by exposure to light, most of it darkening to brown over a few months. Although stylish in appearance I don't think that seating would be pleasant to use. The photo shows the difference between freshly cut and material that has been exposed to light for a while
