Running 40mm waste through joists.

Converting ensuite to a wetroom. Most of the trays available put the waste one joist over so I need
to run the waste pipe through the joist. Can I drill a 45mm hole into the joists, if so, can what heights
etc?

It all depends on the joists and where you need to drill, but roughly;

you can not drill any holes in the middle third of the length; so if the joist is 3m long you can only drill within 1M of each end.
you can not drill any holes within 50mm of another hole or notch
the hole must be at least 50mm away from any edge
if it complies with that then you can drill a hole up to 1/3 of the depth of the joist
