Scribing large side panels for my fitted wardrobe.

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am a keen diyer and need some help. I am in process of finishing my fitted wardrobe. The material the carcass is made off is vinyl wrapped chip board. My two scribing panel are also made from same material. Now, I need to cut about 8cm from each scribing panel off. I know how to scribe it with use of compass however what is worrying me is the cut quality nad precision. Walls are not straight. I am planning to use jig saw to do it but I am not sure if I will be able to get perfect fit. I would like the finish that front of scribing panel is exactly flush with the carcass edge and the back side of scribing panel exactly touching the wall with no gaps whatsoever. What is the normal standard for this job? Can professionals get that finish perfectly or do they use like some caulk to hide little gaps between the wall and panel? Also any tips greatly appreciated. Welcome. If you are confident that you can scribe the panel accurately, then once you have your line cut using a jigsaw with the base plate on the back face of the panel, effectively holding the jigsaw upside down. That way you won't get as much breakout. I always finish off with a thin bead of decorators caulk.

8cm is a lot to mark with a conpass, it might move a bit, id rip it down first leaving about 20mm to scribe with. put dime masking tape on your board scribe and trim with panel saw, like katellwood said just cut on a slight angle to het a nice snug fit.

If you back cut as said you can then use block plane to tweak it, by back cutting you will only have to plane a thin portion of the material not the full thickness, i would cut off the line slightly then do the rest with the block plane.

Use a jigsaw with a downcutting blade so as not to break out the surface laminate. Put a strip of wide masking tape down the edge first to mark and cut along. As others said, tilt the jigsaw as you cut.

Thank You all for kind replies. I have done it, I used jigsaw and 45 degree cut so it was easier to sand. I cut it just before scribbled line then I used sand paper to get that perfect finish. Good tip about 8cm being to much to compass.
