Stanley No6 and No 7 Planes

Does anyone know whether a No 6 Frog/Blades/Woodwork will fit on a no 7 Stanley base?

I have a No 6 which I have had and loved for many years but the base has developed a split (where a repair existed from when I got plane 40 odd yrs ago.).
If a no 7 will take all the bits then it widens my chance of getting a base. I already have a couple of 5's and a 5/12 so only use it now for long joins - and if I have a lot of hard stuff to do as I like the extra weight kicking it through.

I'm pretty sure it will - 2 3/8" blade is common to both planes.

Thanks Karl.... there's a Stanley 7 base for sale..... I'll give it a go as I think a repair to my base will be not very practical

Hi Les,
As Karl says, your parts "should" fit the No 7 body but just be aware that the frog and frog reciever castings have undergone a number of changes over the years so it's probably best to identify the type number of your old plane before buying a replacement body.

This chart outlines the changes to castings etc so you should be able to work out the type number of yours.
