Planer issue.
Hi, new on here and hoping someone can help. I'm feeding this guitar neck across a planer at right angles to the blades, but I'm getting this oblique cut - it should be parallel with the pencil line. I'm guessing the blades are out of adjustment but the basic gauge that came with the machine says otherwise. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Re: Planer issue.
you got a photo of the machine and blades and fence ?
I can't see how that could happen without it being very obvious !

Exactly. I took a step back last night to check it wasn't a case of "not seeing the wood for the trees". It's like the cutter is slightly at an angle although I'm not even sure this is adjustable. If I get a chance I'll nip home today and take some pics.

Re: Planer issue.
Ok, I think I've discovered the problem. It appears that the infeed table is slightly lower on one side than the other, and that is what is causing the skew cut. I proved the point by running the neck across once more, but with a thin shim under the neck, on the low side of the table and that appears to have straightened it up. Problem is, there isn't any obvious adjustment on the table. I had it apart last night and apart from holding the table in a certain position when tightening, there's no other means of adjusting. It's a Dakota machine purchased from Rutland's, so I think a call to them is in order on Monday. I just found the receipt, and there are seven days of warranty left... Pics to follow.

Ouch... There is also some mis-alignment here. It's not just perspective making the gap appear wider, closer to the camera. Difficult to make out, but the table is slightly lower on the left side.
Re: Planer issue.
so with seven days of warranty left, has it been working fine for a year ?
what's changed ?

Got that wrong. Warranty expires today... Bloody typical. Anyway, they're a reasonable bunch up there so I'll call them on Monday and see what they say. No idea what has changed. I've not seen any evidence of this before, but this is the first time I've planed two pieces joined at an angle, so maybe it just wasn't apparent before? Don't know really.
